Sally Mann is a local Virginia Photographer, I first saw her work at the VMFA. Her style is gritty and unobstructed. She has a way of capturing a person with this intense honesty, I would link her to the style of Van Gogh if she were a painter. Her style and composition are of a similar understanding. Alexa Meade is an American artist, one of the most refreshing new artists, if I may be so bold. Her use of intricate painting techniques, combined with the aspect of performance art is truly astounding. Though, I must say she is not the first to attempt this method of artistry, she certainly is one of the best.
